ULTIMATE PATAGONIA EXPERIENCE
An Immersive Wildlife Expedition From Fjords to Mountains
Explore every corner of Patagonia’s wilderness.
Experience the breathtaking spectrum of Patagonia’s wildlife through stunning glacial straits, sweeping island landscapes and awe-inspiring mountain parks. Our bespoke, comprehensive 10-day expedition will put you face-to-face with tremendous Humpback Whale, the only colony of King Penguins outside of the Antarctic Circle, and alongside Patagonia’s most elusive wildlife across a rich, diverse landscape.
You’ll spend the 10 days* of this expedition exploring some of nature’s most remote locations: navigating the waters of the Magellan Strait and its glacial channels, exploring the wilderness of Tierra del Fuego, trekking through the mountains and steppes of Torres del Paine and walking alongside pumas with our expert guides.
And of course, each phase will be punctuated by numerous photo opportunities with local wildlife, landscape, and historical landmarks.
GETTING HERE
Our expedition begins in Punta Arenas (Chile), which is easily accesible from every major city in South America. Please note that this is a suggested route as our packages do not include air fares. Alternatively, private transfers can be arranged from either Puerto Natales or El Calafate for an additional fee.

Days 1-4: In the Shadow of Pioneers
Our first four days will have you arriving in Punta Arenas and heading to explore the Strait of Magellan. Many centuries after its discovery, the famed passage that shaped the modern world shelters an abundance of marine wildlife and dramatic landscapes.
You’ll be taken through some of the world’s most remote waterways, into glacier-formed inlets, and past historical landmarks – all in search of the perfect photography opportunities. With our vessel’s low gunwale, you’ll always have the best angle for capturing these moments.
We work together with local wildlife experts to track and observe humpback whales, who forage and live in these waters from November – April.
These majestic creatures are widely known for their breaching, cresting and other arresting surface behavior, so your chances of capturing an astonishing moment are very high.

Day 5: Into the Land of Fire
Our expedition continues across the Strait, into Tierra del Fuego. South America’s largest island is home to the world’s northernmost colony of King Penguins and a host of other wildlife.
This day will not only mark the midpoint of our adventures, but will also be one filled with shifting landscapes and scenic journeys. From a last glimpse of the glacial channels of the Magellan Strait, we’ll drive to Bahía Inútil, home to the only colony of King Penguins outside the Antarctic Polar Circle, where we’ll spot around 100 individuals including adults, juveniles and chicks.
After taking in the spectacle of this exclusive and elusive waddle, we head north for a brief ferry ride across to the mainland, spotting some Commerson’s dolphins if we’re in luck. We then drive towards Puerto Natales, embracing the vastness of the pampa and pausing to stand in the remnants of one of the first and most important Patagonian ranches: estancia San Gregorio, now a national historic monument.
The arrival in your hotel at Puerto Natales marks the end of your long day, and a chance to relax and reflect on all you’ve experienced so far.

Day 6: Untamed Patagonia
This entire day takes in the glorious landscape of the Torres del Paine National Park, widely considered to be one of South America’s most beautiful and important national parks.
We’ll head towards the Park through the Serrano River area, getting views of the Park’s breathtaking mountain range, the Paine Massif, and enter through the western sector. On the way, we’ll head past Lake Toro, the largest body of water in the region, giving way to spectacular views, such as the Grey Glacier and Cuernos de Paine.
As the expedition travels east, the landscape gradually transitions from Magellanic deciduous forest to Patagonian steppes, passing by waterfalls, lakes, mountains and valleys. The main focus of this journey is the incredible scenery, but there’s plenty of wildlife to be spotted as well.
We’ll end the day near the famous Laguna Amarga, arriving at the estancia that we’ll call home for the next four days.

Days 7-9: Step Into the Wild
For the latter half of your expedition, you’ll be walking alongside one of South America’s most elusive hunters, the Patagonian Puma.
These remarkable and powerful creatures hunt and travel all across the Patagonian Steppes. We work with expert puma trackers to find these magnificent creatures in their natural environment. More than any other phase, this part of the tour must adapt constantly to the geography and seasonal challenges of this wild and untamed region.
Our traditional tracking methods and local expertise mean that we can bring you close to these majestic creatures in their own habitat. We work with experienced puma tracking experts to find these magnificent creatures in their natural environment. New photo opportunities will arise constantly, as we’ll move shortly after we’ve captured a moment with each animal.
At night you will return to the comfort of the ranch, which will provide everything you need to rest and relax.
Your accommodation across this expedition will be as varied as the landscape it nestles in, but each locale has been carefully chosen as a base camp for your adventures.
For your stay on the shores of the Magellan Strait, you’ll be staying at the Eco-Camp on Carlos III Island. This remote accommodation will put you close to all the best whale-spotting zones, while still being comfortable and relaxed. The entire camp is raised from the ground, conserving local vegetation and offering great views of the waters. You might even spot humpback whales from your balcony.
During your hunt to photograph pumas in the Patagonian Steppes, you’ll find a home in one of a number of local estancias (ranches), enjoying a fusion of traditional architecture and modern amenities.
In between these two base camps there will be single-night stops – before departing for Carlos III Island, on your return from there, and in Puerto Natales after our drive north. For these days, you’ll have the option of different hotels to stay in overnight. These options vary from the winter to the summer months, but we constantly work with our hospitality partners to ensure that, no matter the time of year, you always get a top quality stay.
We take great care when creating the best possible experience for you and your group no matter the time of the year.
